Due to recent excessive rain, the Russellville City Corporation  "Spring Flushing" maintenance cycle has been canceled this week and rescheduled. Notices will go out to the public once the new date has been determined.

River Valley Runners has a meeting set for Thursday, April 10th at Grace Baptist  Church/Russellville at 6 p/m.

Bells Chapel Church of Christ/Atkins has their monthly 'Ladies Day" event planned  for Saturday, April 12th at 2:30 p/m.  The church is located at 4545 Bells Chapel  Road.

The Pless Family reunion will be held Sunday, April 13th at the Pless Community  Center in London.  Fellowship and registration get at 11, a business meeting will  follow at 11:30 and a potluck lunch will follow.

DAV Chapter 27/Russellville is getting ready for its 75th Anniversary celebration  on April 19th.  The event will include a motorcycle "Poker Run" that morning, with  an observance to follow at 10:30 a/m at Veterans Park on Lakefront Drive.   Entertainment, food and fun, will be just a part of the effort.

Easter Sunrise Service will be held again this year atop Mount Nebo.  Arkansas  Tech's Wesley Foundation will conduct the service, under the direction of Pastor  John Palmer and State Park staff.  A 6:30 a/m start time is planned inside the  large CCC pavilion.  Call 229-3650 for additional details.

Another "Our Blood Institute" drive is just ahead.   Western Yell County Schools will play host to the bloodmobile on  Thursday, April 3rd from 9-till-2.  And, daily donation  opportunities can be found at the Russellville Donor Center on  West Main Street.  Give the "Gift of Life" an that is blood,  during an "Our Blood Institute" drive, near you soon...

The River Valley Cancer Support Group meets the first Thursday  of each month at the CARTI CANCER CENTER in Russellville.   Hosted by Jane Pittman, hours for the event are from 3-to-4.  In  person or virtual options are available.  Visit CARTI.com/The  Bridge for more information.

Russellville City Corporation will kick-off their "Spring  Flushing Schedule" this coming Saturday, April 5th.  Flushing  will take approximately 6 days to complete and will be underway  from 7 a/m to 7 p/m.  Laundering during this time should be done  with care, as they may be some discoloration of water during the  flushing period.  Take a look at the full flushing scheduled on  the City Corporation Facebook page.

The HeARTh in Russellville will host local author T.L. Simpson  for a reading on April 22nd at 6:30 p/m.  Simpson's latest novel  is "Cope Field".  The HeARTh is located at 208 West Main.  All  are invited to attend.

Hopewell Baptist Church in Atkins will be celebrating its 150- anniversary this coming Sunday, April 6th, with morning services  at 11 a/m.  Special music will also be provided by Susan Haney  Chronister.  A catered lunch will follow.  Hopewell Church is  located at the intersection of State Highway 247 and Hopewell  Road.

April 11th is the date for the annual Russellville Kiwannis Club "Pancake Day" at the L.V. Williamson Boys and Girls Club on East 16th Street.  Hours for the event are from 6 till 1, and tickets are 5-dollars/all you can eat.  Proceeds from the effort go to benefit the many projects of the Kiwannis Club through the year.

The spring mowing season is coming soon, and those with family in the Appleton Cemetery are reminded that March is pick-up/clean up decoration month.  Any help is appreciated. Decorations no removed by families by the end of March will be removed by mowing crews in April.

Taken into custody over the past 48-hours by law enforcement in Pope County, a 55-year old male and a 41-year old man, held by Russellville Police on narcotics and drug paraphernalia possession.  A 37-year old male, jailed on a DWI charge.  And, a 29-year old female, incarcerated on residential burglary and theft of property charges.  In Yell County, a 23-year old Waldron man; arrested on DWI.  And, in Johnson County; a 30-year old Clarksville woman, detained on multiple narcotics and drug paraphernalia possession charges.  The names of these individuals are being withheld, pending a probable cause court appearance in the jurisdiction of their arrest.

The monthly Russellville Civil Service Commission meeting, scheduled for March 25 will be pushed back a week to April 1. We will meet at the Central Fire Station at 5pm.

Clarksville Spring Clean-Up is scheduled for April 7th! Details: Electronics may be taken to The Recycle Center M-F year round. All items to be discarded MUST be curbside by 6 am on Monday, April 7th. The City will not return to a street that has already been visited. Arkansas Tech University will host a community movie night featuring the animated film "Elemental" on the new video board at Simmons Bank Field at Thone Stadium in Russellville on Sunday, April 6. The gates to Simmons Bank Field at Thone Stadium will open at 5 p.m. There will be an inflatable bump-and-jump obstacle course on the football field beginning at 5 p.m. The movie will start at 7 p.m. Admission will be free and open to the public.

Augsburg Zion Lutheran Church will hold a free will offering spaghetti  benefit dinner on Saturday, March 8th for Yecica Valdez.  A single mom,  Valdez had been diagnosed with two types of breast cancer.  Proceeds  will help with expenses during this time of treatment, while she  supports her 3-year old son.  5-to-8 p/m, Saturday, March 8th, Augsburg  Zion Lutheran Church 93 Augsburg Road in London.
