APRIL

The Tri-County Cruisers invite you to participate in a benefit car show rescheduled for this Saturday; May 1st on the Dover square.  Hot Rods, Rat Rods, special interest cars, antique cars all are invited to be a part of the effort that Saturday from 9-till-2 p/m.  Vehicle entry fee is 20-dollars and registration will get underway at 8;30 a/m that morning.  Trophies for a variety of classes, prizes and ways to win BIG will be a part of the fun, with all proceeds to go to Ernie Gray for help with unexpected medical expenses.

The People for a Better Atkins organization has announced the Atkins Picklefest will not be held for 2021. Coordinators say they hope to bring the festival back in 2022. The Atkins riding club will be having their Picklefest rodeo, and additional details can be found on their Facebook page…

The Pope County Spring Clean-Up is underway this week at the Pope County Road Department located on Weir Road.  Open daily through Thursday from 7:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. to accept items, there will be a few that can't be accepted... NOT ACCEPTED: No tires on rims No household trash No latex paint (can be disposed of in your everyday household trash) No concrete or bricks No yard waste, limbs/leaves/shrubbery No commercial business waste...

Pope County Master Gardners will be holding their annual plant sale on May 1st at the County Fairgrounds.  Due to Covid concerns the sale will be conducted as a drive-thru event for 2021.  Vegetables and herbs, annual and perennial flowers, trees, shrubs and houseplants will be available.

Entries are now being taken for a May 1st charity volleyball tournament to benefit Johnson County Helping Hands.  The event will be held at the Marvin Vinson Center in Clarksville and pre-registration is now underway.  Six players, any combination of males and females will make up the teams.  Entry fee will be 30-dollars with a 300-hundred dollar winner take all prize.  Get further details at Johnson County Helping Hands on Facebook.

May annual serves as Police Memorial Month, and the Dardanelle Police Department is finalizing plans for their Thursday, May 13th observance.  That event will get underway at 10 a/m that day, at the Gazebo on Front Street.  Dardanelle Police Chief Wilson Short urges area residents to join the city at Gazebo to honor those who served, and lost their life in the line of duty.

The Yell County Wildlife Federation's 57th annual Quail Banquet and fund raiser has been scheduled for Saturday, May 15th.  A quail, catfish and rib dinner, with all the fixings is planned, with their annual auction, door prizes and fun to be a part of this event.  Tickets will be sold in advance only.  Call 229-4692 for further details.  Funds raised during the event are used annually to support youth education and conservation programs in the valley.

Mt. Nebo will play host in mid-May to an Arkansas Enduro 2021 event.  The May 16th effort will be one of a series of races that include Bentonville, Fayetteville, Ponca and Bella Vista.  Coordinators remind that those interested in participating, need to get their entries in now.  Entries are limited to the first 250 to apply.  Get further details at bikereg.com/mtnebo.
