This reminder... The old single lane bridge at Oak Grove, that crosses Isbell Creek has been closed.  Pope County Judge Ben Cross says that bridge is out of service and will be replaced, but; local traffic, mail routes, emergency services and law enforcement are being detoured into Moreland; until a new two-lane safety bridge can be constructed.

The Hickey Park Pool is open for the season, each day of the week from 12:30 pm- 6:00 pm.  Season passes are now on sale!!! Daily admission will be 3-dollars for kids under 18 and 4-dollars for adults.

Dates and times have been set for a planned Summer Feeding program for the Dardanelle School District.  Dardanelle High School will play host to the event, planned Monday thru Friday, June 7th to July 30th.  Hours for the drive thru effort will be from 10:30 to 12:30 p/m.  Youth 18 years of age and younger will receive a breakfast and lunch.  Participants ar reminded that the Feeding Program will be closed July 2nd and July 5th.

Dover Public Schools reminds that their Summer Meals program is underway... Thursday's in June... The 10th, 17th and 24th their drive-thru meal pick-up will begin at 12-noon and run till 2 p/m, or until meals are exhausted.  The meal kits will include 5 breakfasts, 5 lunches, milk, fruit and produce for children up to age 18.  Families with youth don't have to be a Dover School System student to be included in the program.

Journey Church in Russellville will play host June 12th for a big "Benefit Car Show" for the Jami Brent family.  A noon hour start time is planned, with the show to continue until 4 p/m.  Come out and show off your rides and support the Russellville Cruise Night to follow at approximately 5:30 that evening along North Arkansas Avenue.  Get further details at the Russellville Cruise Night event page on Facebook.

The Russellville Recreation and Parks Department reminds registration is underway for the upcoming annual Children's Fishing Derby set for June 12th at Pleasant View Park.  The event is for youth 4-to-12 year old, and gets underway at 8 a/m that morning, with a weigh-in at 10 a/m.  Prizes will be given in three age divisions.  Registration continues through June 11th.  The Derby is limited to the first 100 to register.

Preparations are underway for the 2021 edition of Russellville's Juneteenth Celebration set for June 19th at James Park.  This will be the 3rd year for the event, with free food, refreshments, games and live entertainment.  Lunch will be provided by the James Park Committee.

Pope and Yell County Cooperative Extension Service is offering a "Babysitting Basics" workshop on June 28 and 29, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Pope County Extension Office. September 21st is the date for the 2021 Dover Public Education Foundation Banquet, a fund raiser for this community organization.  Plans are being finalized for this year's effort, celebrating the 10th for the event.  Dover High School Cafeteria will play host to the effort.  Get further details at DoverPEF-dot-Org.

Johnson County Coordinators have set at September 11th date for their 24th annual Relay For Life event on the Courthouse square at Clarksville.  Hours for the event will be from 6 to 10 p/m, with food, games and fun included in the effort to raise funds toward the battle against cancer.  Teams are forming now and those interested can call 979-4569 or 979-8932.

Yell County's Petit Jean River Monster Festival will return for 2021,  with the event planned for Saturday, September 18th in Danville.  The festival, that debuted in 2019; is a fund raiser for the Lt. Kevin Mainhart Memorial Scholarship Fund.  Food, fun and a musical showcase will be included.  Also on tap, a street carnival, 5-k race, tug of war, a car and motorcycle show and plenty of arts and crafts.  Go to Petit Jean River Monster Festival on Facebook for further details.
