Pope County Judge Ben Cross has announced the date for a ceremony to designate a portion of State Highway 7 as the "Sheriff Jay B Winters Memorial Highway". That event is scheduled for Monday, October 18th, at 10:00 A.M. in the vicinity of Bakers Creek / Russellville Country Club. Cross took time to acknowledge the collaborative effort that made this recognition possible.

The Russellville Recreation and Parks Department in partnership with MainStreet Russellville will have the 2021 KidsFest at the annual Downtown Fall Fest. The event will be held Saturday, October 30 from 9:00am to 5:00pm. The children's games will be held from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Help send the Russellville High School Symphonic Band to perform at Carnegie Hall. A "Desserts for NYC" event is coming up Saturday, October 16th at 7 p/m in the lobby of Russellville's "Center of the Arts". An evening of desserts and fun will include a silent auction, live auction of desserts, as well as Event T-shirt and ornament sales. Tickets are 10-dollars each of 15-per couple. Russellville Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for their 2021 edition of the Chamber Classic Golf Tournament. October 15th is the date for the 3-person scramble at Russellville Country Club, and registration is underway. The event kicks off that day with an 11 a/m lunch and a shotgun start at 12-noon. Russellville District Parent-Teacher conferences are set for October 25th and 26th. Pre-K through 5th grade conference will be held Monday, October 25th and 6th through 12-grades are set for Tuesday, October 26th. Conference hours will be from 2-till 8 p/m both days. Buildings will release students for early dismissal at 1 p/m both days, according to administrators.

The Arkansas River Valley Arts Center's "Chili Bowl and Silent Auction" event has been rescheduled for November 13th. The upcoming event will include a chili dinner donated by Brangus; with a large variety of toppings, adult beverage dessert and a hand-crafted pottery bowl. The L.V. Williamson Boys and Girls Club of Russellville will play host in early November to the annual "Mistletoe Market, fund raiser for the club. Set for November 4th and 6th, the effort; in its 14th year, involves a variety of vendors from throughout the valley and across the state. Christmas gift and decorating ideas will fill the center for the run of the event. Proceeds from the fund raiser make a difference throughout the year, acting as a foundation for a number of important club projects. Augsburg FallFest is right around the corner, and will return for 2021. Coordinators say the fund raising event will be scaled back though, as a result of Covid-19. A silent auction will be held on their Facebook page as a part of this year's event, October 2nd through October 7th. Their traditional German food event will be held October 9th, in a drive-thru format at the church from 4-to-6 p/m.
