Russellville Animal Shelter is having a pre-holiday adoption event.  Adoption fees are being waived through November 24th.  Dogs only.  All animals up for adoption have already been either spayed or neutered and have all shots, with the exception of rabies.  Get further details at 968-1944.

Russellville's Veterans Park on Lakefront Drive will play host to a special "Quilts of Valor" ceremony and re-dedication this coming Saturday, November 13th.   Four quilts will be presented during the 1:00 p m event at the park pavilion, with an effort to dedicate the portion of the park which includes several recently relocated honorary stone tablets.  All area residents are invited to attend.

Danville's Leon Milsap Senior Activity Center has scheduled their annual Thanksgiving Dinner Fund Raiser for Friday, November 12th.  A traditional meal of oven roasted turkey, homemade dressing and gravy, sides of green beans, onions and bacon, cranberry sauce, dessert and drink will be included. Hours for the event will be from 11 a/m to 1 p/m, with a suggested donation cost of 10-dollars.

The fall clean-up effort is underway in Hector through this Saturday, November 13th.  Four dumpsters are being utilized for discarding of refuse.  Drop off hours will be from 8 a/m till 4 p/m.  Get further details at the city of Hector Facebook page…

A pancake breakfast and lunch at York Masonic Lodge on Hwy 164 west is set for Saturday, November 13 from 5am till the food runs out.  Pulled pork sandwiches, chips and a drink; you can take to the deer stand will be available for $ 5.00.   Breakfast and lunch will be 6-dollars,  cash or check only, as the lodge has no card reader available.  All proceeds will help fund various lodge projects and charities.  All money will stay right in here in the river valley.  Everyone is welcome...

The Arkansas River Valley Arts Center's "Chili Bowl and Silent Auction" event has been rescheduled for November 13th.  The upcoming event will include a chili dinner donated by Brangus; with a large variety of toppings, adult beverage dessert and a hand-crafted pottery bowl.  A silent auction is also planned that evening.  Get further details at the River Valley Arts Center Facebook page.

Johnson County Senior Activities Center is getting ready for their annual Thanksgiving meal, planned for November 19th.  Enjoy roasted turkey, homemade dressing, mashed potatoes with turkey gravy, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, buttery corn, oversized rolls and fluffy fruit salad.  Your choice of Pecan, homemade Pumpkin pie or sugar free Apple pie is also included for a 12-dollar cost.  Get further details at the Johnson County Senior Activity Center Facebook page.

The 2021 edition of the Russellville Christmas Parade is scheduled for Thursday, December 2nd at 6:30 p/m downtown.  To help kick-off a return of the parade, all entry fees will be waived this year.  Deadline to enter will be noon on Monday, November 29th.  Get further entry details at City of Russellville Recreation and Parks on Facebook.

A December 3rd date has been set for the 2021 Dardanelle Christmas Parade, with a 6:30 p/m start time.  This year's parade route will start at Merritt park on Highway 22, turn North on Union Street, then proceed down Front Street.  1ST, 2ND and 3RD place trophies will be awarded in both commercial and non-profit categories.  Dardanelle Chamber of Commerce sponsors the parade, and entry details can be obtained on their Facebook page.

Cub Scout Pack 182 in Russellville wants to invite the River Valley to a chili dinner event December 4th from 10am to 2pm at the city mall parking lot in front of Planet Fitness. Tickets are just $5 dollars and all the proceeds go to help Scouts here in the River Valley.
