The Russellville Junior High and Middle School Choirs' Annual Christmas Concert will be performed on Monday, December 6th at The Center of the Arts.  The Middle School concert will begin at 6:00 PM followed by the Junior High at 7:00 PM. Doors will open at 5:30 PM. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

Holiday Glow is returning to downtown Russellville... A Friday, December 10th event is planned that evening 6-to-8 p/m.  Carriage rides, entertainment, the Holiday Art Walk and the Chamber of Commerce "Battle of the Bulbs" competition at the Depot Park Christmas Tree.  Santa will be on hand and a Holiday Fireworks Finale at 8 p/m is planned.

Dover's Angel Tree is now accepting applications for any family that need help purchasing children's Christmas gifts and live in the Dover School District.  Children must be age 2 to 18 and applications will be accepted on line at the Victory Worship Center website.  Get further information at vwc.gregproctor.net.

Russellville school district bands invite the public to their Christmas Concerts, set for Thursday night, December 9th at the Center of the Arts.  A 6 p/m start time is set for the beginning and intermediate bands, with the senior and Symphonic bands to follow at 7:30 p/m.  The symphonic band's portion of the program will be a preview of their planned performance on December 15th at Carnegie Hall in New York.  Arkansas Tech symphonic band and members of the Cabot high school band will also be included in that New York performance.

The Atkins Christmas Parade is scheduled for Monday, December 6th at 6 p/m.  "Frosty fest" is the theme for this year's event.  There's no entry fee for this year's effort...

Dardanelle's "City on the Glow" holiday lighting contest is underway.  Coordinated by the Dardanelle Chamber of Commerce, the event is sponsored by the Dardanelle Nursing and Rehabilitation center.  1st, 2nd and 3rd place cash prizes will be paid to this year's residential winners and a Traveling Trophy and Bragging Rights will go to the Commercial winner.  Get further details by checking the Dardanelle Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.  Judging will take place December 16th.

Danville Chamber of Commerce will have their "Christmas Tree Decorating Contest" again this year, with trees to be placed at the Courthouse lawn between December 1st through December 9th.  Photos of the trees will be posted on the Chamber's Facebook page on December 10th, and the display with the most likes on Monday, December 13th will be this year's winner.  Get further details at the Danville Chamber of Commerce Facebook page...

In the giving spirit, consider helping out Johnson County Helping Hands this holiday season. If an overabundance of canned goods have become a problem, and you just can't seem to find room to store them; donate cans of corn or green beans to assist with feeding the needy. Lamar Volunteer Fire Department has kicked off a  "Toys for Tots" effort in Johnson County. The need is real and your help is needed, especially this holiday season.  Department personnel ask you to get involved by dropping off your unwrapped new toys for any age boy and/or girl at Lamar City Hall. Toy collection will continue until WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2021.
