Russellville Baptist Academy is hosting a New Family Information Night.  It's an evening designed for new parents and families interested in finding out more about RBA. It's happening January 27 at 5:30pm at First Baptist Church, 205 S Glenwood.

Quilters Sew-cial Circle meets at the  Pope County Library Wednesday, January 28, 9:00am–1:00pm This is a drop-in program.  Stop by any time within the specified hours to participate. Join other adult quilters and fiber artists in this come-and-go sew-cial meet up. 

Dover Public Library hosts an adult game day on Wednesday, January 28, from  1:30pm–3:00pm. Join in playing card games, having fun, and making new friends!

Wednesday, January 28th 3p.m. – Game Scene Investigation: G.S.I.  – When you walk around in nature and you see a track, do you take the track at face value as just a footprint, or do you look around to see what the big picture holds? Join a park interpreter in the grassy area across from the visitor center and see what you can determine about the game scene in the area. Then at 4p.m. – A Walk Amongst the Fish – Join park staff for a walk through the visitor center and look at the aquariums. Learn how to identify the many fish living in Lake Dardanelle.

Recovery Church River Valley meets  Thursday nights at My Connect Church at 6:30pm.  They're located at 1103 E L st in Russellville.  Recovery Church is both a Church and a 12 step fellowship. A Church for the recovery community by the recovery community.  

Arkansas River Valley Arts Center is getting ready for a Soup-er Bowl Event.  Saturday, January 31st, enjoy food and fellowship; all benifitting the Arts Center.  Follow their Facebook page for information about how you can enjoy a handmade bowl with some of their great soup, or just a serving of soup, as a part of this event.  Hours for the SOUP-er Bowl will be from 1-to-3 that day at center off B Street.  


It's an all ages board game and hot cocoa day in Atkins on Friday. Bring your crew and enjoy some quality family time at the library! Saturday, January 31st    p.m. It's a Dutch Oven Demonstration at Lake Dardanelle State Park – Join a park interpreter at the weigh-in pavilion for some tips on cooking in a Dutch oven, weather permitting. They will cover the basics of cast iron care, Dutch oven uses, and temperature control. Food will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact the visitor center for details.


Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF) is now accepting scholarship applications for the Spring 2026 semester.Single mothers and fathers who are seeking financial support for higher education can apply at aspsf.org/scholarships. The deadline is Feb. 1. Recipients must be pursuing an associate degree, bachelor's degree, or professional certificate. Scholarship awards range from $400 to $1,600, depending on enrolled credit hours. Funds are sent directly to recipients so they can pay for essential needs such as rent, child care, gas, utilities, and school-related expenses.

The Pope County Historical Association will have their first meeting of the year on Tuesday, February 3rd. 6:00 p.m. at the Check H Grill & Buffet. Dr. Kelly Houston Jones will discuss "The Freedom Train in the River Valley," an event when several treasured manuscripts of American history including the original Emancipation Proclamation document, passed through the Arkansas River Valley.  Dining starts at 6:00 p.m., the meeting starts at 6:30 p.m., and the presentation will begin between 6:50 and 7:00 p.m.
 


The Russellville Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to partner with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to bring the National Civics Bee® to Russellville for the 2025–2026 program year! 
This nationwide initiative invites 6th–8th-grade students to strengthen their civics knowledge and make a meaningful impact on their communities. Students enter by submitting a 500-word essay identifying a local issue and proposing a thoughtful solution.
This is a nonpartisan, confidence-building competition designed to equip young Arkansas students with a greater knowledge of our government and celebrate the next generation of engaged citizens. The deadline to apply is February 3, 2026 Open to any Arkansas student in grades 6–8


Join us for a fun-filled Game Night packed with laughter, friendly competition, and great company! We'll have a variety of games including Tic-Tac-Toe, Connect-4, Jenga, UNO, puzzles, Sorry and Checkers. In addition to games, we will also have an (optional) Diamond Art Lesson led by Estie Johnson. This will incorporate the use of fine motor skills and hand eye coordination to make your very own Diamond Art keychain. Diamond Art is a craft involving the placement of tiny, shiny pieces onto a sticky canvas to make a picture. Participants will be provided supplies and instructions needed to complete this project and have a keepsake to take home!

Quilts of Valor National Sew Day is February 7 at 9am.  Join in at the Pope County Senior Activity Center at 1010 N Rochester Ave as they sew quilts for their veteran recipients.  The event is open to everyone.  Please bring your sewing machine and supplies.   Lunch is provided, and registration is free.  Register at QOVF.org

It's almost Polar Plunge time at Lake Dardanelle State Park. The Russellville Polar Plunge will be held on February 7th, 2026. Registration is at 11, plunge at noon.  Every year, FCC attends this event with a team of Polar Plungers. During this event they raise money by jumping into the cold lake. The money raised by this event goes to Special Olympics Arkansas as they prepare for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games, which is something that some of our own clients will participate in. The cost to plunge will be $50. Those that participate in the plunge will earn a t-shirt and can be eligible for other special giveaways. Saturday Feb 7 at 5pm, you're invited to Join us for a Drawdown Steak Dinner Fundraiser supporting the Yell County Fair and much needed upgrades at the Fairgrounds. This special event will also feature a brief political segment giving local candidates a few minutes to speak, while the community enjoys a great meal and a fun evening for a great cause! All Saints Episcopal Church invites you to Super Bowl Chili Cook-Off: February 8, 2026 5:30 pm in Sutherland Hall Join us for food and fellowship at our annual Super Bowl Chili Cook-Off! Bring a pot of chili to share or come enjoy the fun! We are hoping for at least 10 chili entries. Drinks and basic chili toppings will be provided, and guests are encouraged to bring a side dish. All are welcome. Come hungry and bring a friend! 


Do you know a person with special needs? Maybe you're a person with or without special needs who loves to sing with a group. This choir is open to all persons age 10 and up, but is designed for those with special needs. There is no cost to participate. All singers will receive a t-shirt for performances also at no cost.  They rehearse weekly on Mondays in the choir room at First United Methodist Church at 304 South Denver. First rehearsal is February 9.

The Dardanelle library has a challenge for high school seniors.
From January 1 to May 1, the senior who reads the most books will receive a scholarship! Each book you read will enter you into a drawing to win a gift basket.  Books can be from The PUBLIC LIBRARY. The HIGH SCHOOL library . OR even BOOKS FROM HOME. The fastest reader wins! Submit your registration (NAME AND PHONE) BEFORE APRIL 1ST.  Call or just head to the library. You will be provided supplies to track your progress!

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LI-HEAP) is designed to assist low-income individuals with keeping heat in their homes in the winter and cooling in the summer with the goal of preventing a potential utility shut-off or restoring home energy. All applicants must provide a photo ID, Social Security cards for all household members ages 18 and older, Social Security numbers for all household minors, copies of their most recent utility bills, and proof of income for the preceding month. Additional documents may be required to determine eligibility for assistance. Getliheap.com is the site to apply.
