Finding a good breakfast in Dardanelle this Saturday morning won't be difficult, because the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast Fund Raiser will kick-off a full day of activities at the final day of "Yellfest".  A 7 A/M start time is scheduled for the event, under the Big Top Tent at Veterans Riverfront Park.  A menu of pancakes, bacon, sausage, and all the fixin's with coffee, milk or orange juice to be served until 11 A/M for a 5-dollar charge.  Proceeds will support the Lions Club sight saving projects.  Come to "Yellfest" and attack a stack this Saturday. Arkansas Tech spring 2021 commencement ceremonies begin Thursday night. As a result of the university's Covid-19 protocol, instead of being held inside Tucker Coliseum; ceremonies are being planned outdoor at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field.  On Friday, any 2020 ATU graduate who wishes to return to campus and participate in an in-person commencement are invited, that to be held at 6 p.m. Spring 2021 graduates from the Russellville ATU will be honored during ceremonies at 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Yes!!! The carnival is back for the 2021 Free State of Yellfest" event, set for Friday and Saturday,  at Veterans Riverfront Park.  Armbands will be on sale, and purchase information is now available at the Dardanelle Chamber office by calling 229-3328.  Vendor booths will open Friday at 3 p/m, with the Dardanelle band to perform at 4 p/m to kick-off the event. Entertainment continues throughout Friday night, with Saturday bringing the Lion's Club Pancake Breakfast and the Run Like Yell 4-mile Run.  Get further details at the Dardanelle Chamber of

The People for a Better Atkins organization has announced the Atkins Picklefest will not be held for 2021. Coordinators say they hope to bring Picklefest back in 2022.

The month of May serves annually as Police Memorial Month, and the Dardanelle Police Department is finalizing plans for their Thursday, May 13th observance.  That event will get underway at 10 a/m that day, at the Gazebo on Front Street.  Dardanelle Police Chief Wilson Short urges area residents to join the city at Gazebo to honor those who served, and lost their life in the line of duty.

The City of Atkins reminds customers of Lee's Trash Service that their City Limits Large Item Collection Days will be Monday, May 10th through Friday, May 14th.  Please place all items out with your trash the night before your regular trash pick-up date.  There are items that will not be accepted... The Yell County Wildlife Federation's 57th annual Quail Banquet and fund raiser has been scheduled for Saturday, May 15th.  A quail, catfish and rib dinner, with all the fixings is planned, with their annual auction, door prizes and fun to be a part of this event.  Tickets will be sold in advance only.  Call 229-4692 for further details.  Funds raised during the event are used annually to support youth education and conservation programs in the valley.

Mt. Nebo will play host in mid-May to an Arkansas Enduro 2021 event.  The May 16th effort will be one of a series of races that include Bentonville, Fayetteville, Ponca and Bella Vista.  Coordinators remind that those interested in participating, need to get their entries in now.  Entries are limited to the first 250 to apply.  Get further details at bikereg.com/mtnebo.
