Yell County Sheriff's Chief Deputy John Foster reminds that this coming week, his department's annual police memorial service is planned for 10:00am on Tuesday.  The observance will be held at the Yell County Law Enforcement Center in Danville. The month of May annually serves as Police Memorial Month.

Dardanelle Police Department is finalizing plans for their Thursday, May 13th observance.  That event will get underway at 10 a/m that day, at the Gazebo on Front Street.  Dardanelle Police Chief Wilson Short urges area residents to join the city at Gazebo to honor those who served, and lost their life in the line of duty.

The City of Atkins reminds customers of Lee's Trash Service that their City Limits Large Item Collection Days will be Monday, May 10th through Friday, May 14th.  Please place all items out with your trash the night before your regular trash pick-up date.  There are items that will not be accepted... The Russellville Recreation and Parks Department will hold the monthly meeting of the Recreation and Parks Commission on Thursday, May 13, 2021.  The meeting will be held at noon at the Hughes Community Center.

The Yell County Wildlife Federation's 57th annual Quail Banquet and fund raiser has been scheduled for Saturday, May 15th.  A quail, catfish and rib dinner, with all the fixings is planned, with their annual auction, door prizes and fun to be a part of this event.  Tickets will be sold in advance only.  Call 229-4692 for further details.  Funds raised during the event are used annually to support youth education and conservation programs in the valley.

Mt. Nebo will play host in mid-May to an Arkansas Enduro 2021 event.  The May 16th effort will be one of a series of races that include Bentonville, Fayetteville, Ponca and Bella Vista.  Coordinators remind that those interested in participating, need to get their entries in now.  Entries are limited to the first 250 to apply.  Get further details at bikereg.com/mtnebo.

Johnson County Coordinators have set at September 11th date for their 24th annual Relay For Life event on the Courthouse square at Clarksville.  Hours for the event will be from 6 to 10 p/m, with food, games and fun included in the effort to raise funds toward the battle against cancer.  Teams are forming now and those interested can call 979-4569 or 979-8932.

Yell County's Petit Jean River Monster Festival will return for 2021,  with the event planned for Saturday, September 18th in Danville.  The festival, that debuted in 2019; is a fund raiser for the Lt. Kevin Mainhart Memorial Scholarship Fund.  Food, fun and a musical showcase will be included.  Also on tap, a street carnival, 5-k race, tug of war, a car and motorcycle show and plenty of arts and crafts.  Go to Petit Jean River Monster Festival on Facebook for further details.
